SNO  PRO'S
WEST YELLOWSTONE TEAM ARCAN

This page is a photo and informational page with some creditable
facts on the 1976 Factory Merc Sno Pro's AFTER they were sold
from the factory race team.

I am no expert, but enjoy the fact that there are 4 out of the 6 Factory Merc Sno Pros
located here in the Great Northwest. I will do my best to have accurate
information on these sleds. I am more then willing to change any information
there may be on these historic sleds, in fact, I would encourage those of you who
know to help out with your information.

I know, I do not know all there is about these sleds, nor do I know all the people,
names and places associated with these sleds. So, If you read something that is
not correct, please let me know, and I will get it changed.

THE MAD MERC

In February, 1976, shortly after Merc announced they would no longer build snowmobiles,
the race team sleds were bought by Spokane, Washington Merc dealer, Buzz Rodseth.
The first in line to purchase one was Jeff Biddiscombe.

Jeff Biddiscombe raced this sled after purchasing it from Buzz.
Note the Yamaha power plant. Jeff went on to win a World Series title in 1978

Jeff sold his Merc to Jeff Turner from Dayton, Washington.

Bob Kleiber of Image Enterprises in Eagle River, Wisconsin held onto this sled for
some time until he sold it recently to...

New owner Brent Duryba, who has begun restoration on the "MAD MERC"

Greg Byrd in Wenatchee, Washington is the owner of this 250. This is was Stan's 250
with the set back front end. Greg also has Doug's 250

Except for the Sno Pro 250, these other Merc's in this line up are racing clones that Greg
built in the late 80's and early 90's to race locally. Greg raced is 440 and 340 to second
place finishes at the 2005 Vintage World Championships in Eagle River.

Greg Byrd met with Doug Hayes at his shop in Crandon, Wisconsin in Jan. 08
to discuss the Merc Sno Pros he has.

Making it's Northwest show debut at the PNWVSC show in
Diamond Lake, Oregon in 2005, is this 340 from the Sno Pro team

Jerry Kienbaum in Spokane, Washington purchased this sled from
Lee Fredrickson. Lee did a major reconstruction and restoration of this
sled. The story of this sled is long and will need more study time.
